Although the Appalachian Trail hosts an incredible community of thru- and day-hikers, it'll be easier for me to reach Maine if I hear from you along the way!
Although I'll be on the trail for many months, I'll still have semi-regular access to internet. If you want to get in touch, it'll be easiest if you send me an email. I can be reached at: underhillafoot@gmail.com
Trail Magic
Trail Magic is when people go out of their way to do good deeds for hikers. When I've described my trip, many people have asked for a place to send a package to contribute in some way to my hike. Instead of trying to organize post offices along the route, I'd encourage you to try Trail Magic.
If you live within driving distance to the Appalachian Trail, simply pack up some snacks or drinks and park out along the trail one day. Offer supplies to hikers passing by and strike up a conversation--you will meet incredible people expressing true gratitude. As I've said before, the community along the trail is one of my favorite parts of backpacking, so sharing in the Trail Magic may even inspire you to want to hike the Appalachian Trail one day!
